  Chemical in Red Wine May Extend Your Life

  Harvard biologist, David Sinclair, says his research on resveratrol, a chemical found in red wine, has shown that it helps to extend the life span in mice by up to 24% (free registration required) and in other animals by as much as 59% - and it may also help extend the life of humans. Sinclair thinks resveratrol works by activating SIRT1, a gene that many scientists believe plays a fundamental role in regulating life span in animals.   Chocolate Toothpaste Might Work Better Than Fluoride

  A new study found that an extract of cocoa powder may be an effective alternative to fluoride in toothpaste by helping to harden teeth enamel. Mmmm - chocolate flavored toothpaste. I bet that will get the kiddies rushing to brush their teeth. Actually, according to the article, the toothpaste might not actually be chocolate flavored.   1 in 4 adults didn't read a single book last year, according to a new AP-Ipsos poll. The "typical" person read four books... wow - I read more than that in a month, but I've always known I'm not "typical." "The Bible and religious works were read by two-thirds in the survey, more than all other categories. Popular fiction, histories, biographies and mysteries were all cited by about half, while one in five read romance novels.
