Have You Started Saving For Your Wedding

08.20.07 | No Comments

Ramit Sethi has a fascinating article on how to save for a wedding, including excel sheets so you can play with the numbers. Since, as the WSJ points out, the average wedding costs about $28000 (”well over half the median annual income in U.S. households”), you’d better have a savings plan to pay for it because regardless of what you think now about being budget conscious, when your day comes, you’ll want to splurge.

Also of note, one commenter on Sethi’s blog mentions that in Spain, couples write their bank account on their invitation and guests are expected to pay to attend the wedding. Can you imagine implementing that in the US?
