Tips to Increase Your Web Traffic

08.16.07 | No Comments

If you’re looking to increase your blog’s traffic (who isn’t?), check out Invesp Blog’s 9 sure ways to increase your website traffic.  Ayat Shukairy points out that 100 word posts won’t cut the mustard - you need “pillar” (longer, more detailed) content to keep people coming back. Other great advice includes establishing social media connections, publishing articles on high authority sites, having an RSS feed, holding a contest and adding widgets. Check out the article’s great action plan to get started.

Along with his tip to “make it easy to subscribe,” I’d add that depending on your target audience, you might consider adding an email subscription form to periodically (weekly/monthly) send updates to. Unfortunately, a large percentage of the population doesn’t read blogs regularly, so give them a choice of whether they’d like to hear from you via RSS or email.  I use Aweber.com (aff).

You can also consider packaging your core/pillar articles into a free guide that you give away on your site - or as a bonus for subscribing to your newsletter - to maximize the number of people who see/read your content. Make the good stuff as easy to find as possible!
