FreeTheGrapes is a grassroots organization who are committed to removing restrictions that prohibit some states from purchasing wine directly from wineries and retailers.

For instance, I live in PA, so the only source of wine is the PA Wine and Spirits store - or I can drive out of state, purchase wine, and drive back. Out of state retailers and wineries aren’t allowed to ship to me - and they have watchdogs monitoring the mail to catch people who might try. Heck, I can’t even have the online PA Wine and Spirits ship to my door. If I place an order, I have to go pick it up at my nearby liquor store.

It’s a pain in the butt - and you never know what shape the bottles will arrive in. I’ve purchased a number of bottles that were corked because many PA stores don’t store wines very well.

PA is one of 16 states that prohibit you from purchasing wines directly from out-of-state wineries and having it shipped to you. FreeTheGrapes is involved with getting legislation passed that will overturn these laws - so if you’re a wine lover, please support them
